Assessments and Performing

Termly targets are agreed with students and parents to give focus to lessons and practice and to enable students to understand the progress they are making and relish the sense of achievement.

Examinations are another, but not the sole, measure of achievement. If a students wish to take examinations I ensure they are thoroughly prepared for ABRSM and Trinity Exam Board.

Playing with others and performing

Sharing a love of music with others is a joy and I aim to encourage students to enjoy playing with and for others.

Playing duets at all levels can be fun as well as developing skills for listening to someone else, ‘keeping going’ when mistakes are made and to keep to the pulse. Students can play duets with me, and whenever possible, play with a friend, sibling, another one of my students.

All students are encouraged to take opportunities to perform. This motivates them to learn a piece of music to performance level as well as experiencing the learning process required to reach performance standard and the performance environment.

Students can take part in local music festivals, concerts at school or play at my student concerts, held twice a year.
